Then there's no point in sharing /boot - you only run the risk of one 
thing over-writing another accidentally.

Again, possible conflicts over /usr/src/linux

You'd be better off sharing /usr/local/src.  Even then you would have to 
compile most apps afresh before installing them on the respective 
distros.
