[Gllug] Compiling a Kernel

This seemed to do the trick and the config file for 2.4.16 was now read.
This was much too easy hence I never sent you a reply thanking you because I
knew that my little foray into compiling a kernel could not be sorted in
less than a 24 hour period. I copied all the relevant bit everywhere and
tried to reboot. I go an error like the following 

Unable to read /lib/modules/2.4.18/modules.deb
Kernel Panic
Unable to ????? device 803


Or something to that affect. Needless to say I am heart broken over my
debian box's broken heart. Its the first error I have had with it in several
months inflicted by me.


There will a few questions about how to sort this over the next few days.
