gpg is trying to contact a key server to verify the key. Possible
problems:

1. The key server setting is incorrect
2. You don't have a broadband connection and so are not online when gpg
tries to verify.
3. Your firewall blocks the verification attempt
4. None of the keys in question are registered with the key server
network.
