I have just purchased a second hand ABIT BP6 (Dual Celeron) box and inserted
my NetGear Nat Semi card into it.

I have assigned it an IP address, but while it lights up at the back it
sustains no physical connection with the gateway: (NB this is pinging from
the gateway, but IPs are merely reversed doing it the other way):

[Adrian at landslide Adrian]$ ping 192.168.62.13
PING 192.168.62.13 (192.168.62.13) from 192.168.62.123 : 56(84) bytes of data.
>From 192.168.62.123: Destination Host Unreachable
>From 192.168.62.123: Destination Host Unreachable
>From 192.168.62.123: Destination Host Unreachable
>From 192.168.62.123: Destination Host Unreachable
>From 192.168.62.123: Destination Host Unreachable
>From 192.168.62.123: Destination Host Unreachable

When this card was in a previous machine (with the address 192.168.62.5)
there was no problem.

Is this something to do with running an SMP kernel?

(Both machines are RH 7.2 2.4.7 kernels)

Adrian
