I think you might have to explicity set the trust values on keys, even
your own.
"gpg --edit-key" takes you to a menu system where you can see what the
"owner trust" and the "key trust" is set to. Setting these values seems
a bit non-intuitive to me but it should be possible via this menu.
The Gnu Privacy Assistant GUI seems to let you set owner trust but not
key trust, but you can view both.
I think the idea is that you explicitly set the owner trust and the key
trust is worked out based on this and on who has signed the keys.

I've had a problem in Evolution where it refuses to decrypt a message
unless both key and owner are trusted, though mutt works fine (prompting
you though).

Also is there an easy way to extract a public key from an email in
Evolution? ( I think it's Esc-K in mutt).
