Depends on what else is on the interface and wether you're using DMA, 
but you should be able to get it going faster than that if it's a 
relatively new drive. If you want to get some speed out of your drive, 
try taking a look at hdparm. Note, that it's not really a tool for 
beginners, but that's how you get some decent speed out of your system.

I've not used it much, so will leave the door open for others (or 
google) to continue with the lesson ;)
