[Gllug] Linux config suitable for everyone...

Ok, a bit more on-topic and likely to create a storm but I really would like
to hear of what software people think is appropriate for everyday people
used to windows etc.

Since I've been unemployed for over a month, I've decided to branch out a
bit: my intention is to sell pre-built computers* pre-installed with Linux
(which I think I will 're-brand' so as to not scare people off). I like
Debian so I will use that unless there is a good reason to use something
else.

The config I think is appropriate goes something like:

kernel configured for hardware
no iptables, but limited services running
X with kde
OpenOffice.org

Don't get me wrong, I am a big fan of Window Maker and GNOME and galeon, but
I really don't think that these are as appropriate for an unsuspecting
newbie. Evolution and GIMP would be nice to include too, but I'd prefer not
to confuse said newbie with two GUI toolkits.

What do you guys think?

Pete

* either a preset system, or with hardware to any custom spec.
