Hi all

Does anyone have any experience of flashing the BIOS on a Dell Inspiron
4000.

My current BIOS is A05 and is reported to be buggy the SuSE 8.1 Stock Kernel
and it disables ACPI (I think or is it APCI, it's the power management one).

I thought I would update the BIOS to the latest version as Dell say that
ACPI has be fixed. However when I updated it the HDD was not detected, I
think it was a geometry problem as Toms Root Boot could see it.

Does anyone know what version of the BIOS flash does work? Reversing is a
pain as well as the utility refuses to work if a later version is in flash.

Alternativly how do I disable ACPI without rebuilding the kernal, APM is
available as well but won't load if ACPI is enabled in the kernal, this
seems to be the default.

Cheers

Alastair
