Hmm, Redhat or Debian? Debian, no question. :)
As for the non-inflammatory question, I think that the Samba documentation
more than adequately describes how to set up a Samba server to act as a
Domain Controller, including 'saving profiles' et al.
apt-get install samba-doc
And start looking around the copious documentation in
/usr/share/doc/samba-doc. Of particular interest may the file
/usr/share/doc/samba-doc/htmldocs/Samba-PDC-HOWTO.html.
