[Gllug] browsers

Thought this might be of interest to the rest of the list: 

Thank you for contacting us about the browser compatibility of the Barbican
website.  This is an interesting debate.  At the time we designed the site,
Mozilla had not been released and Opera was even more of a minority interest
than it is now.  We decided to make our site compatible with IE and Netscape
because these were, and still are, the browsers used by the overwhelming
majority of web users.  Since then (almost 2 years ago), Opera's popularity
has grown but it is still insignificant - a recent survey estimates that
less than 1% of web users have Opera as their browser

850,00.html), and Mozilla is nowhere.  However, I have recently asked our
developers to assess the work involved in making our site compatible with
minority browsers.  Depending on the time and expense, it may be worth
consideration.
