With all previous RH distributions the license on all RH components was
GPL.
With the new release two packages that are fundemental to the distro being
*Red Hat Linux* - ie redhat-logos and redhat-artwork are now under a more
restricted license.
Note that all RH images are included in those packages and all RH GUI
tools are dependant upon them.
Combined with RH's new stance on trademark licensing this totally
prevents anyone from commercially redistributing Red Hat Linux.
You can alter it by removing all of the RH images and then redistribute
however you'll have to produce new ones, fix the checksums and you may
also have to change various other references to Red Hat as that is also a
trademark and they are clearly not licensing the trademarks in a manner
that allows you to use it if their intepretation of the law holds up.
I am not disputing that Red Hat have a right to do this. I am merely
stating that if RH are no longer willing to allow people like John Winters
(Linux Exporium) to distribute GPL CDs of their distro I don't feel that
they deserve the communities continued promotion to the same level.
