Its that evil cracker called peer striking again, format all of you 
disks and burn your computer ;)

Or you could look at setting TCP keepalives, the relevant bit lives in 
/proc/sys/net/ipv4 TCP keepalives send a kind of "ping" to the 
connection every x amount of seconds to stop them from timing out.

Read the file ip-sysctl.txt in your linux kernel source documentation 
tree for more info.
