[Gllug] mplayer and vo

I can play DVD using mplayer and it does very well.

If I use the Video Out vo mpeg-pes I get a lovely mpeg file of the DVD 
while it throuws sound out of my speakers and no sound on the resulting 
mpeg file.

If I do ao mpeg-pes it tries to combine both and corrupts the stream. 
 Is there a method that I have not found to successfully combine both 
streams into one file?
