Well I've now had it installed since 12 August. I got a cheapo SMC network
card from pcworld, had the engineers attach it to that and its worked fine
ever since. SuSE just recognised it and set it up and it worked.
Only issue was that it took a week and many many calls to get the ntl
registration prcess to succeed and get me set up with e-mail.
I see from ntlhell that this is not untypical. I must admit If I'd read the
comments on that site before I got the service I night well not have gone for
it.
But it has worked ok so far. Fingers crossed I suppose.
