[Gllug] shared debian cache dir

I'm getting to like this thing you call debian to such an extent that i
have more than one instance of it running now.  but, how can i share one
copy of /var/cache/apt/archives amongst many installations?  i really
dont want to have to download the same thing multiple times, and i dont
want to mirror all of debian.

i've tried sharing the directory via http/ftp but that fails, as there's
no associated Package info.

i'm sure this must be a common problem, but my googling incantation
failed miserably.  can a debian user point me in the correct direction?
