To Simon and anyone else on the list involved in linux
volunteering,

I'd love to be involved in a project of this nature. I
am new to linux, learning my way on my sorry ass at
home! (really screwed up a laptop install of Linux
from scratch the other day :( ...oh well, live and
learn).

I have a job in IT as a programmer working mainly with
DBs Oracle and Adabas plus some web work and shell
scripting if I can invent a reason.

At home I work my way through linux trying to get a
grip on different aspects, though I am at the start of
what I know is a very long road. I'm also keen to put
my 'talents' to a socially good cause. I've been
searching for linux volunteering stuff for a while now
through local government add pages but no joy. I am
therefore very pleased to hear this news from Simon.

I see volunteering as a way to gain experience, help
out others and circumvent the old catch 22 of "you
can't have a job, you haven't got any experience" "but
I need this job to get the......................"

Does anyone else on the list have information on linux
volunteering?

thanks

ben
