All the passwords are locked. The only way to get to root is to type "sudo su 
-" [which happens to be the way I get to root on most machines I look after].

errr. dunno. I've never needed to store anything. you'll have to poke around.

The list of installed software in Knoppix is available from 
http://download.linuxtag.org/knoppix/packages.txt

If you really suspect the disk, it would be a goof idea to check at the 
manufacturers site, as they usually have downloadable disgnostics, which can 
be run off a floppy.
