Never thought it a problem. I do it with 5m (3+2) cable when I put it on the 
Lego bot So I guess I am just luck.
If I can find more cable I will try. Most of the webcams come with about 2m 
of cable. Beyond 5m you would probably need hubs. Data rate does not seem to 
be a problem with the webcam at 5m.

Did find a link for you that suggests it wouldn't be a problem.
