If you open up a terminal and type

host smtp.blueyonder.co.uk

You should get output similar too.

smtp.blueyonder.co.uk has address 195.188.53.60

This may be your problem, blueyonder map the cable modem to the MAC
address of the ethernet card (this is a unique address on each card).

You can find out this address from a terminal

ifconfig eth0
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:20:E0:01:D2:5D
          inet addr:172.16.0.6 Bcast:172.16.0.255 Mask:255.255.0.0
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
          RX packets:3106112 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
          TX packets:3311197 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
          collisions:0 txqueuelen:100
          Interrupt:11 Base address:0x1000

The MAC address is the hexidecimal string after HWaddr, in this case it
is 00:20:E0:01:D2:5D make a note of this number from the linux box.

On the machine that works you can go to
http://selfcare.blueyonder.co.uk/ where you should login using your
blueyonder account name and password.

You will see a network interface MAC management tool. You should be
able to add the mac address for your second computers card here. Full
instructions here, you will need to restart your cable modem if you
connect different machines.
