I have used all of the above in the past and also xfs which I am playing
with a little now. You could also play with jfs from IBM which I
believe does some cute stuff, try combining it with evms and UML and
give them all a whirl.
I have run desktops with all ext3 and xfs without issue but outside of
production boxen I am responsible for, which run ext2, all my machines are in
constant state of flux due to curiosity and incomptetence, so I can not
comment on long term behaviour.
