Yep, I had to add an "alias usb-controller usb-uhci" to modules.conf.
BTW, can anyone explain what uhci and ohci are and what the difference
between them is? Why should I care? Is it just something as simple as
the chipset in my controller? Or something else?

I'm not sure "fun" would be my first choice. SCSI emulation manages
to show my USB devices on my real SCSI controller. Fortunately, none
of the SCSI IDs clash, so IDs 0/1 are USB devices, and IDs 4 & 6 are
my real SCSI scanner and CD writer. So far, I haven't been brave
enough to see what happens if I change the SCSI IDs, or plug in more
than 4 USB devices...
