The example of the hospital surgeon is valid but I have known graduate

order the obtain  PhD/MSc  qualifications, course fees payed by the 
taxpayer. On gaining the higher qualifications it's bye bye NHS I'm off 
to work for more pay with a large pharmaceutical company.
