This is the start of the M$ campaign to promote "Palladium" - a version of 
Windoze that will demand the installation of a M$-specific BIOS.  The 
traditional "IBM PC clone" that we're all using now will be effectively 
redundant in the brave new M$ world.  The hardware manufacturers were rubbing 
their hands with glee at the thought of all the new kit that they could sell 
until they realised all the implications of the dreaded M$ BIOS.....
