[Gllug] can't switch between virtual terminals

oooooh, I should have read this more thoroughly.  Just on a Monday not 
thinking straight line of thought, what happens if you start another X 
session from tty1 (X :2) - does it go to alt F8 of alt F7?

That is a 'security' thing  within debian, use sudo xcommand as a normal 
user.
