I might be able to give you an insight into the RHCE, as I am a
teacher/examiner working for Red Hat, so I might be able to give you
some insights. The exam has changed in version 8.0, and in my opinion,
it is bloody hard. Not hard in the sense that you have to do difficult
tasks, but there is just so much you have to do.

The exam is devided into three sections, the first being a debug
section, a multiple choice section and an installation/setup section.
You have to pass with more than 80%.

In the debug section you have 8 problems, each worth 12.5 points, and
2.5 hours to finish these problems. 4 of those problems are compulsary
and has to be finished within 1 hour. That means that if you get them
after that first hour and get 100% on this section, you still fail the
RHCE. You need at least 50% to pass this part of the exam.

In the multiple choice part, you have 50 questions, each worth 2 points,
again, you need 50% to pass _this_ part of the exam.

Finally, you have the install/setup part. This is now devided into 2
(3) parts, a local and a network part. You have to pass each of these
with 70% or better to earn an RHCE. In the network part there are a set
of problems where you can choose which ones you want to do (you have to
do about 2/3 of these, but you decide which ones you like).

For those who have taken the exam, I would say that the debug part has
become a bit easier, but the setup part has become harder, since there
are much more to do. But if you know your stuff, the exam is not
difficult. It is a bit early to talk about passrates, but it seems it
is lower than the old version of the exam, please check out
http://www.redhat.com/training/ for numbers.

Another thing with the new RHCE, if you pass the 4 compulsory debugs and
70% of the local section, but fail to get an RHCE, you will be awarded
an RHCT (Red Hat Certified Technician).

Hope this was of any help!
