Yes, but if it ain't broke don't fix it! I am still learning Linux apps.
The mail system I have used for years has a window for each folder opened,
with an additional window for each email opened. Any number of emails can be
opened at the same time, in any order, each in its own window. I know it is
not perfect, but I now have ADSL, with fetchmail running on an Exim Smart
Host mailserver, with several computers which can access mail over a local
network using IMAP. If I manage to break the Smart Host, the RISC PC will
still collect mail direct (via the firewall).
