It takes a bit of work but it can be worth it for a large site.
jablicator and replicator are also interesting Debian packages with
different approaches to this pattern.

cfengine is also worth a look.  One of its main advantages is that it
can be installed on a range of OSen including Windows and you can manage
the configuration of all your boxes of all supported OSen from one
configuration file.  With some work and planning.
