I'm sending this from a non-subscribed account, so please cc if you reply to list.

I've a RAQ 4R that yesterday I was installing spamassassin on. During which I got a message about filling up the root filesystem.

<quote>
The filesystem [/] is getting very full

is getting very close to full. This is very dangerous for the server and can cause unexpected errors to occur. You either need to move some files to another storage device and delete them from the Sun Cobalt server or delete them altogether. Consult the documentation for help adding storage to your Sun Cobalt server.

Total disk space:  725.95 MB
Free disk space:  35.03 MB
Percent Used:  95 %

At the end everything still was working fine, so I figured I could research a while and fix it later... bad idea.

This morning I was adding a new user to an existing virtual site on the server, when it threw me out of the control panel.

Since then, I can't get email, ftp, ssh or access the control panel. The sites continue to work fine. All users (AFAIK) are affected. If you try and get email via webmail, it says user doesn't exist.

So we can guess at a problem with the passwd file perhaps...

Anyway, I've asked the reseller to reset the admin password, to see if I can get back in. Which I'm (still) waiting on.

However it's likely that I'll need to go to Red Bus and serial in with a laptop to try and fix things. I've never done this and want (to hire) help. My supplier (clara.net) apparently doesn't offer this form of support!

Moreover, I think that won't help and an OS restore is going to be coming so, will need to get the hard disk out (BTW it's a RAQ4R - RAID), back up the sites and databases, do the OS restore, restore the data, blah, blah....

So, I will probably need someone who has done this before or is very confident, and who can hopefully do it today, and doesn't need cash up front, or will accept a CC, or best of all, some form of contra deal (though I suppose space on my server doesn't sound too enticing right now...)

So, if you're interested, knowable, flexible and available, please call.
