Redhat, much to their discredit, are playing the "big version number" game.
After all, who on earth would want to use Debian 3 when Redhat 9 was available?

2.6.0 is, at least, months away from being released. It's also going to be
at least a year before it's "stable" if 2.4 was anything to go by.
