I agree with a lot of what you say - I really don't think Microsoft are
concerned about people at home using copies of Office etc. Their revenue
comes from businesses.
(before someone points it out, I know that it is, or certainly was,
legitimate to use a copy of Office on your home machine as well as your
work's desktop)

However you are confusing the two meanings of the word 'free'.
I'm sure RMS would agree with me if I point out that the sense of free
in free software is 'free speech', rather than 'free beer'.

In French, the term used is 'software libre' rather than 'software
gratuit'.
Anyone know what the term is in other languages?
