I can't comment as to your particular situation. but I always had
problems with deliver. Messages generated on the mail server, and stuff
that for whatever reason could not be delivered and got stuck in the
queue awaiting redelivery would just cause vast numbers of hanging
deliver processes. Stopping and restarting Cyrus would cause all the
waiting messages to get delivered, and then they'd start piling up
again....

I fixed it by removing deliver from the loop entirely, and having the
MTA just talk LMTP directly to Cyrus. Can you set Postfix up to do that?
