Dear Ashley,

Assuming your Perl script is in a file called hello.pl could
you please perform the following.

    $ script
    $ hello.pl		<== or whatever you used
    $ exit

This should produce a file called typescript in the current
directory.  Please post the contents.  Then, perhaps, we can
comment.
