I am not actually using it on my main box but I have had a look and
actually I quite like it.

Set it up on a spare box. (old p2 450) The installation is slick and
straightforward as is hardware detection. As you would expect, it is
very much like Red Hat 9, only it seems less 'corporate'.

Network / internet connection is easy with 'neat' and as a desktop box
most of what you want is there. Except it seems for DVD viewers and
possibly mp3. If you dual boot with 'doze and want to mount the doze
partitions you will need to set that up yourself

I had previously had a look at Mandrake 9.2 also but prefer Fedora.
Mandrake's tools sleemed sluggish by comparison and I felt there was too
much gloss and not enough care.

The only snag I found in Fedora so far was that file downloading in
Mozilla did not work.

I rpm -e'd my way down to a barebones mozilla, which could not be
removed without damaging open office (1.1), and then used konqueror 3.1
to install moz 1.5 and firebird direct from mozilla.org. They work fine
but you need to set menu links, paths, icons etc yourself.

Hope this helps

Andrew
