Then you think wrong :-) MCC Interim was the first Linux distribution,
closely followed by SLS. I think you're probably safe to claim that
Debian is the oldest surviving distribution, though[1].

Before MCC, there weren't distributions to speak of. Linux came on a
pair of boot/root floppies either direct from Linus or later from H.J.
Lu.

[1] Although you could arguably claim that Slackware is a direct
    descendent of SLS, so that could potentially claim the honour.
