No, it couldn't become "the standard Debian installer" without lots and lots of
work, Debian supports 11 architectures (iirc) and Knoppix supports only i386
afaict so it would need to be ported to at least 10 other architectures and
this is why the debian installer is so retro, some platforms you can install
debian on don't have a gfx mode or are console only....
