This attitude can be turned round on you.  For example: "What, you want
packages automatically fetched and downloaded for you?  Don't you know
how to check for updates?  Don't you know how to download files or
install packages?  Red Hat assumes you have a clue, you Debian-dependant
wuss."

If you actually do serious IT work, rather than fiddling at home, then
you may install the OS many, many times, often in custom situations
where a clone-solution like FAI is inappropriate.  Even the clueful can
then find that they would like the luxury of concentrating on the bits
that require their concentration and having the rest take care of
itself.
