Pitching my own 50 pence worth in here (inflation, dontcha know?),
my prediction is that with the new Fedora project we may well see 
a closer coming together between Fedora and Debian.
(Thats not to say they'll merge)
Fedora already uses Yum and apt-for-rpm as its update mechanisms.
Watch this space.
