No. It has worked fairly well for the past 7 or 8 years.
As a user you can always compile a "vanilla" kernel from the official
sources if you want however the additional features/drivers added by
RedHat and the like are a good thing - they provide what users want and
offer a controlled testing environment backed by commercial support.
