software disk around anymore.

I tried that to some degree, but even with ip addresses in host, it's going to 
do no good without being able to do an ifup of some sort, and neither eth0 
nor ppp0 seem to want to play. I keep hoping someone knows something about 
CHAP authentication so I can get around that stumbling block - I've no idea 
what to do about that.
