One of the PCs biggest problem has always been I/O to memory and devices
mainly because it shares one bus and can't access I/O in parallel. Don't
know if high end PC are better at this.
The IBM pSeries have got memory and I/O switches that means I/O can happen
in parallel without slowing each other down. The combined memory bandwidth
of the p690 is something like 800GB/s.
