Kernel = 2.6.9-1.6_FC2
I used the following command, output trimmed for readability;
# tar cvf /dev/st0 /etc
tar: Removing leading `/' from member names
etc/
.
.
etc/postfix/postfix-script
tar: /dev/st0: Wrote only 0 of 10240 bytes
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now
I get the same sort of errors for dump or cpio.
These errors are listed in the messages file;
(scsi0:A:5:0): Unexpected busfree in Data-out phase SEQADDR == 0x84
st0: Error 70000 (sugg. bt 0x0, driver bt 0x0, host bt 0x7).
st0: Error 10000 (sugg. bt 0x0, driver bt 0x0, host bt 0x1).
st0: Error on write filemark.
st0: Error 10000 (sugg. bt 0x0, driver bt 0x0, host bt 0x1).
I've tried a new DLT tape, same problem. Cleaned drive, same problem, checked SCSI cables power etc, all look fine.
The tape drive seems to be found OK;
# cat /proc/scsi/scsi
