Oh yes?
The partition contents is *exactly* the same, the only difference is
partition type which none of the recovery tools care about anyway (it is
there for raid tools).
So you can yank off either of the mirrored disks any time you like
(preferably not when it's rebuilding, rare ;) and use anywhere without
raid tools etc as normal boot/root disk.
That is the whole beauty of Linux SW RAID! If it fails, you can degrade
safely.
