   I may well be wrong, but as I understand Linux 32 bit graphics is 8 each
RGB and ignore the rest. On my Acorn 32 bit graphics is 8 bits each RGB and
transparency. This is not normally used in the desktop system, but is ready
for use in graphics packages.
