[Gllug] Sound fine under 2.4.26 but nothing under 2.6.8

The first time I got ALSA working was on Gentoo, which I find generally 
has excellent documentation: http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/alsa-guide.xml

I subsequently managed to get ALSA working on my FC1 box by following 
the same general idea (though without compiling the kernel).
