I don't doubt this maxim.

I have the following:

Vendor: SONY     Model: DVD RW DW-U10A

I've only had it a few weeks. It may be that the dvds
I got from blockbusters where in such a state they
would have confused even a very expensive player.

I expect a pc component will not compete with a
quality standalone dvd player.
