My advice for this has always been to get the cheapest, simplest passthrough
router you can buy, and stick an OpenBSD firewall behind it (these days, a
Mini-ITX machine makes a great choice for that at a sensible price). From
the OpenBSD box, go into a switch on onto the rest of your network. That
way, you have full control over your NATing and firewalling, and aren't at
the mercy of the router vendor.
