I would recommend that if the Xine-DVD and related installations prove 
difficult or unsuccessful you could try Ogle.  It isn't as fancy as Xine 
but it does the job and installation of the three rpm's off ogle's site 
was really easy and worked first time - on Mandrake 9.1
