[Gllug] Hardware IDE RAID

When using a hardware radi card for IDE drives such as the LSI MegaRAID 
what happens when a drive fails?

I am just playing with a new server and have setup the RAID Bios to 
provide RAID 1 (MIRRORING)

When I used the RedHat installer it saw 2 drives though E and G

I would have expected to see only 1 being presented by the hardware?

I'm going to build the array then remove each drive in turn (cold swap!) 
to see if it can cope.

Will I be able to boot one of these mirrored drives from a standard IDE 
channel if the MSI card fails or will there be a proprietry layout (or 
something - I'm on the edge ok my knowledge here!)
