[Gllug] ADSL modem -- WTF?

I have a seperate switch, seperate adsl/router and a seperate wireless ap.
Just in case 1 piece of equipment fails my network will still function. My
adsl/router has a 4 port switch included of which I only use 1 port to link
to my switch.
Surely a adsl/modem/router/wireless/switch combined can be used without
using the wireless and only using 1 ethernet port to link to your firewall
and thus your network.
Let me know if I am on the wrong track here won't you.
Mike

Yes.
Also in my experience pretty much any ADSL kit that you buy on the high
street
will be almost entirely non-functional. This is certainly the case for ADSL
router/firewalls, it may be different where plain old ADSL modems are
concerned.
