Fedora doesn't use debs - what gave you that impression?  Fedora's still
managed by Red Hat and will be used as the basis for their corporate
offerings - they're hardly likely to suddenly decide to drop RPM are
they?

Of course, you're right about the drudgery involved, but that's because
until recently there's been nothing in the way of dependency resolution
for RPMs.  This is beginning to change now, thankfully.  Apt on an
RPM-based system is a joy!
